Avonhead Vet Clinic Hospital FacilitiesThe new hospital facilities feature separate wards for cats and dogs, to reduce the stress of our in-patients. In-floor heating, heat pumps and a ventilation system make for a cosy environment. A portable recovery unit, in a central position allows patients to be closely monitored during recovery from anaesthetics. It can also be used for intensive care patients. An isolation ward answers the need to quarantine infectious animals if necessary. Non sterile surgeries such as cat bite abscesses and infected wounds, as well as dentistry on a specially designed table are performed in Avonhead’s spacious triage area. This keeps the sterile operating theatre clean for all the sterile surgeries. We also have a range of diagnostic equipment available. Our in-house laboratory consists of a blood biochemistry analyzer giving us test results in six minutes. The fast turnaround time of results enables us to perform preanaesthetic blood tests to ensure safer anaesthetics for our patients. We can also perform several in-house urine tests to aid in our diagnosis. Our x-ray machine is used for orthopedic cases, as well as other medical conditions. The addition of an ultrasound scanner means we are now able to scan for pregnancy as well as examine other internal organs. ![]() |
